INGREDIENTS
1 medium egg
3 tablespoons of golden syrup
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1½ tablespoons of vegetable oil
¼ cup of milk
2 tablespoons of bran (or wheatgerm)
1 tablespoon of powdered milk
tablespoon of rolled oats
1and a 1/2 cups of plain (all-purpose) flour

METHOD
1. Preheat the oven to 180C (350F) and line a baking tray with greaseproof or baking paper.

2. Hit the egg shell quite firmly on its side with a sharp knife, pull halves slightly apart, then hold the 2 shell halves closely together, tipping the egg from side to side to allow the white to fall into a bowl while keeping the yolk in the shell.

3. Beat the egg yolk lightly in a medium-sized bowl then mix in the syrup, vanilla, oil and milk.

4. Mix the bran, powdered milk, oats and flour together in larger bowl.

5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and combine everything well to form a firm dough.

6. Sprinkle a little flour over a clean work surface and use a rolling pin to roll out the dough thinly.

7. Cut into ‘fingers’, put onto the prepared tray and bake for 15 minutes (the longer these cook, the harder they will be.)
